By booking a service with FurLand MD, you (“the Client”) agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Pet Health and Behavior Disclosure
Clients must disclose any known behavioral or health issues their pet may have, including aggression, anxiety, special needs, allergies, or chronic conditions. FurLand MD reserves the right to refuse or terminate services for any pet that poses a safety risk to staff or other animals.
2. Vaccinations and Health Requirements
All pets must be up to date on vaccinations, including rabies, distemper, and bordetella (for dogs). Proof of vaccinations must be provided prior to service. Pets must also be on flea/tick preventative.
3. Emergencies and Veterinary Care
In the event of an emergency, FurLand MD will attempt to contact the Client immediately. If the Client cannot be reached, FurLand MD reserves the right to seek emergency veterinary treatment at the Client’s expense. Clients agree to reimburse any emergency veterinary or transportation costs.
4. Cancellations and Refunds
Clients may receive:
- 100% refund with at least 48 hours’ notice
- 50% refund with 24 to 47 hours’ notice
- No refund if notice is less than 24 hours, or once the service has started, is in progress, or has been completed.
In the event a walker or caregiver cancels, FurLand MD will provide a suitable replacement at no additional cost to the Client.
5. Liability Waiver
FurLand MD and its staff are not responsible for injury, illness, loss, or death of any pet during care, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct. Clients agree to hold FurLand MD harmless and waive any and all claims arising from services provided.
6. Substitution of Caregiver
If a scheduled caregiver is unavailable, FurLand MD will arrange a qualified replacement. The Client will be informed of the change and has the option to reschedule or accept the new caregiver.
7. Property Access
The Client grants FurLand MD access to the necessary property areas required to perform the requested services. FurLand MD is not responsible for damages resulting from access issues or improperly secured premises.
8. Photo/Video Release
By booking services with FurLand MD, the Client grants permission for FurLand MD to take and use photographs or videos of their pet for promotional, marketing, and social media purposes. No personal identifying information will be shared.
9. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Clause
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms and Conditions or the services provided by FurLand MD shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If resolution cannot be achieved, both parties agree to binding arbitration in Prince George’s County, Maryland, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Each party shall bear its own costs unless otherwise decided by the arbitrator.
10. Acceptance
By booking any service with FurLand MD, the Client acknowledges and agrees to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
11. Insurance
FurLand MD maintains appropriate business insurance coverage, which may include general liability and pet care coverage, to help protect our staff, clients, and pets during the course of providing services.
Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, and limits of the applicable insurance policies. FurLand MD’s insurance does not replace or substitute the Client’s homeowner’s, renter’s, or pet insurance policies. Clients remain responsible for maintaining their own insurance coverage for their pets and property.
In the event of an incident involving injury, property damage, or third-party claims, FurLand MD reserves the right to work directly with its insurance provider to evaluate and resolve the matter in accordance with the applicable policy terms.
12. Pet Escape and Off-Leash Risk
While FurLand MD takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of pets under our care, animals may behave unpredictably. The Client acknowledges that there is always a risk of escape, injury, illness, or loss when caring for animals.
The Client agrees that FurLand MD shall not be held responsible for incidents involving escape, running away, or injury that occur despite reasonable care being taken. Clients must ensure that collars, harnesses, leashes, gates, and home entry points are secure and in proper working condition.
13. Key and Home Access Responsibility
The Client is responsible for providing safe and reliable access to the home or property where services will be performed. This may include keys, lockbox codes, entry codes, or other access instructions.
FurLand MD will take reasonable care when accessing and securing the Client’s property but shall not be held responsible for damages or issues arising from faulty locks, malfunctioning security systems, or previously unsecured doors, gates, or fences.
If a service provider is unable to access the property due to incorrect or missing access information, the scheduled service may still be considered completed and may not be eligible for a refund.
14. Payment Terms and Late Fees
Payment for services must be made in accordance with FurLand MD’s payment policies at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed upon.
FurLand MD reserves the right to charge late fees for unpaid balances. Services may be suspended or declined until outstanding balances are paid in full.
The Client agrees that any unpaid balances may be subject to reasonable collection efforts if necessary.
15. Veterinary Authorization
The Client authorizes FurLand MD to seek veterinary care for their pet in the event of illness, injury, or emergency when the Client cannot be reached within a reasonable time.
FurLand MD will make every reasonable effort to contact the Client and/or the Client’s designated emergency contact before seeking treatment. However, if immediate medical attention is deemed necessary for the health or safety of the pet, FurLand MD is authorized to transport the pet to a licensed veterinarian or emergency veterinary clinic.
The Client agrees to be fully responsible for all veterinary costs, medical treatment, medications, transportation fees, and any related expenses incurred as a result of emergency care.
FurLand MD will not be held liable for the outcome of veterinary treatment obtained on behalf of the Client’s pet.
